Mardi Gras Cheese Spread

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. Package Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1 Tbsp. Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp. Granulated Garlic
  • ¼ Cup (2 oz.) Unsalted Butter, Cut into Cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Water
  • 1½ tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Whole-Grain Mustard
  • Cayenne Pepper to Taste
  • ½ Cup Toasted Pecans, Chopped
  • Buttery Crackers (Such as Ritz) for Serving

Cooking Instructions

  • Whisk cream cheese in a medium bowl until smooth.
  • Stir in onion and garlic powders.
  • Spread mixture evenly onto a serving plate and chill, uncovered, in refrigerator until firm (about one hour).
  • In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, water, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and cayenne pepper.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly, about five to six minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in pecans. Let stand until cooled slightly, about five minutes.
  • Remove cream cheese mixture from refrigerator and let stand until softened slightly, about 15 minutes.
  • Spoon pecan mixture over cream cheese mixture and serve with buttery crackers.
